The Vancouver Queer Film Festival (VQFF), produced by the Out On Screen Film Society, is the citys 2nd largest film festival. What began in 1988 as a small community film festival has evolved into a year-round, multi-faceted queer arts organization. Our vision is to celebrate and advance queer communities through cultural expressions that reflect vibrant, diverse, and complex queer lives.

Box Office Assistant

About the Position

The Box Office Assistant works with the Box Office Coordinator to ensure all ticketing for the festival works smoothly and efficiently.

Box Office:

Assisting with tracking all tickets and passes.

Act as the primary contact for ticket outlets, providing them with information, support and materials required to effectively serve our audience.

Help to coordinate ticket sales; compile daily ticket sales reports and Will Call for all film screenings and festival events.

Assist in the preparation of all necessary forms, systems and cash floats for box office during the festival.

Responsible for assisting with bank deposits and final ticket sales reports.

Assist to train venue coordinators (theatre managers).

Assist with front-of-house during the Festival.

General Duties

Attend and provide status reports at staff meetings.

Keep accurate and easily accessible records of all work in order to ensure organizational continuity.

Complete a final report.

Use fest schedule provided by programmer to prepare tickets, passes and vouchers for to go to the printer by June 26th.

Combine ticket requests from various departments to enter them into ticket system for VIP Mail Out fulfillment by July 4th.

Assist preparation and documentation # of tickets, passes and vouchers to be released for sale and act as the primary contact for ticket outlets.

Assist preparation of updated reports templates prior to the Festival.

Compile weekly ticket sales reports by outlet.

Coordinate ticket sales; compile daily ticket sales reports and Will Call for all film screenings and festival events.

Respond to box office queries via box-office email cell to ensure prompt processing of ticket sales.

Support ticket sales journals entry into Ticket Turtle to update personas in e-tapestry.

Support daily am box office attendance reconciliations from box office volunteers.

Support all necessary forms, systems and cash floats for box office during the festival.

Responsible for preparing bank deposits and final ticket sales reports.

Assist training of venue coordinators (theatre managers).

Assist with box office queries during the Festival.

Additional qualifications:

Meticulous attention to detail

Able to work well under pressure

Able to both work independently and respond constructively to direction

Team player

Adept at databases

Experience with ticketing systems and box office a major asset.

Employment terms:

Seasonal position with dates June 17 to August 31

19 hours per week/ June 17 to August 11

37.5 hours per week/ August 12 to 31

Compensation of $16/hour
