FirstOut Video

Come check out brand new works from up-and-coming queer artists. Four young filmmakers were chosen to participate in FirstOUT Video 2007, a digital filmmaking program for youth aged 16 to 24. Presented in conjunction with the Pacific Cinematheque, this program is part of our youth education initiatives, which, together with Out in Schools (pg. 10), seeks to give media literacy and production opportunities to queer youth and their allies.

Julian DeMayo explores the little-known history of New Westminsterís queer community in The Nuwest Steambath. Going In, by Jacks Cheng, explores the role of a straight sibling in a young gay manís life. Setareh Mohammadi investigates issues of displacement, immigration, gender and status in the lives of two individuals, Quvi and Froogh, and Alex Mahís film Checkpoint is a video which explores the impact of ID on the lives of trans men of colour.
